Winner PGA Europro Tour - June 2009

UK Professional, Tom Haylock won the 7th Europro Tour Championship held at Stoke by Nayland Hotel, Golf & Spa in July, shooting a final round of 65 to win by eight strokes at 16 under, and then proceeded to qualify for the European Tour Open Championship at Turnberry 2 weeks later. This win takes Haylock into fourth spot on the Order of Merit.
Australian Chris Gaunt endured a topsy-turvy event that eventually saw him fall into second place with -8.  The Club’s own touring professional, Jamie Moul, achieved a very respectable tied 3rd place at -7.
The 166 or so professionals from all over the world enjoyed blistering summer weather at Stoke by Nayland during the 3 day championship, and the 2 hour highlights programme was televised on Sky Sport in 4 repeats on 15th July.
Tom also won the Stoke by Nayland Europro Tour Pro Am and his team came first during a very enjoyable day on the Sunday preceding the 3 day event.  One of the teams included Norwich City Manager Brian Gunn together with footballer Alan Lee and Ipswich Town Sponsorship Manager Simon Milton, who seemed to enjoy a very harmonious game of golf together.  Guests at the evening Gala Dinner were entertained by the excellent comedian Ian Irving.
